- NEWS: Corner beams | Sciving
As Sciving continue to progress in our endeavor to construct our first Sciving-housing at DTU, we are excited to share a significant update within mission to increase student housing worldwide: the completion of the entire foundation, paving the way for the erection of corner beams as we transition into the vertical construction phase. Sciving at Technical University of Denmark: Corner Beams and Vertical Construction 20th december 2023 Picture taken at DTU (Technical University of Denmark) As our skilled construction team works diligently to install the corner beams, precision and craftsmanship remain top priorities. Each beam is carefully positioned and secured to ensure both structural stability and adherence to our high-quality standards. Our experienced carpenters bring expertise and attention to detail to every step of the process, reinforcing our commitment to excellence. The shift from horizontal to vertical construction represents a major milestone in our project’s progression. As the framework takes shape, the architectural vision for our student housing becomes increasingly visible. Our investors can take pride in knowing their support has been instrumental in making this vision a reality, as we continue making steady progress toward our shared goal. As we move forward with our mission to establish the first Sciving student housing at DTU, we are excited to share a significant milestone in our journey to expand student housing worldwide: the completion of the entire foundation, setting the stage for the installation of corner beams and the transition into vertical construction. The successful completion of the foundation marks a pivotal achievement in our project timeline, reflecting careful planning, precise execution, and unwavering commitment. With this essential groundwork now in place, we are ready to shift our focus upward, moving into the construction of walls and ceilings. A key aspect of this next phase is the placement of corner beams, which form the fundamental structural framework for our vertical elements. Made entirely from wood, these beams not only provide crucial support but also align with our dedication to sustainable building practices. By prioritizing timber as our primary construction material, we reduce our environmental impact while enhancing the natural aesthetic of our student housing development. As we are building upwards, we do so with purpose and determination, driven by our commitment to quality, sustainability, and student well-being. Our team remains dedicated to creating a living environment that not only meets students' needs but also fosters a sense of connection and community. In the coming weeks, investors and supporters can look forward to seeing significant changes on the construction site as walls and ceilings are installed, further defining the architectural character of the student housing. We invite you to stay engaged as we enter this exciting phase of vertical construction and look forward to sharing more updates as we approach completion. Written by Sciving, 2023
- NEWS: Launching Student Housing in Europe | Sciving
March brings new momentum as Sciving moves closer to announcing the first locations for its student housing units. After months of preparation and ongoing conversations with universities across Europe, Sciving expects to share the selected sites in the coming months. 29th may 2025 Sciving continues testing to improve unit design ahead of next construction phase Picture taken at DTU (Technical University of Denmark) As May unfolds, Sciving remains focused on refining its student housing units ahead of the next construction project. While preparations continue for the first locations, ongoing testing and development are helping to make the units even more efficient, comfortable, and ready for large-scale production. Recent efforts have centered on improving both the interior layout and construction process. By closely studying how the units are built, assembled, and experienced in real conditions, Sciving’s team is identifying ways to streamline production and enhance overall quality. This includes refining material selections, simplifying assembly steps, and reviewing climate performance under different seasonal conditions. Sciving units are already designed with comfort and functionality in mind. Each one includes a private bathroom, kitchenette, study space, and sleeping area, all arranged to support a student’s daily life. As testing continues, the goal is to make every detail even more precise, whether that means adjusting lighting placements, improving sound insulation, or optimizing airflow for better indoor comfort. At the same time, Sciving is exploring ways to reduce time on site once construction begins. The modular nature of the homes allows for off-site preparation, and current testing is focused on shortening the time between delivery and installation. The aim is to make it easier and faster for universities and partners to bring Sciving units to their campuses or other locations. This phase of focused development is essential to ensure that when construction begins, everything runs smoothly. It also helps lay the foundation for future projects beyond the initial pilot sites. We remain committed to delivering high-quality housing that supports students in their studies, daily routines, and personal space. Further updates will follow as construction timelines are confirmed. In the meantime, we continue to invite students to suggest future locations through the sign-up form available online. The inner walls are set to receive interior wall panels, which will refine the space and add functionality to the units. This marks a crucial transition, as the interior begins to take on its final form and move closer to a fully realized living environment. One of the key aspects of the interior wall panels is their unique design, which was specifically requested by DTU. These panels are removable, allowing students to explore the structure and systems of the building. This feature offers a hands-on learning opportunity, enabling students to better understand and engage with the inner workings of their future living environment. We are excited to share the latest progress on the construction of the first Sciving housing at the Technical University of Denmark. The most recent developments include the installation of outer wood wall panels and the completion of the interior layout of the unit. The installation of outer wood wall panels enhances both the appearance and functionality of the building. These panels contribute to structural stability and provide insulation, improving energy efficiency. The wood material has been carefully chosen by the Sciving team to ensure a sustainable solution that aligns with our commitment to environmentally responsible construction. By prioritizing eco-friendly materials, we aim to reduce our carbon footprint while creating a comfortable and healthy living environment for future residents. The installation of kitchen and bathroom amenities is also approaching. This phase will bring an additional level of convenience to the units, ensuring that residents have all necessary facilities. The kitchen is designed to be compact and practical, while the bathroom will provide both privacy and space. Every element has been thoughtfully planned to maximize comfort and functionality. As construction progresses, we remain committed to delivering a student housing facility that meets the highest standards while encouraging learning and discovery. We look forward to sharing further updates as we continue moving toward the completion of Sciving at DTU. Written by Sciving, 2024
